Successful start to year, including hosting of U16 tournament

On Saturday 23rd March 2019 Eastern Rhinos Rugby League Club hosted the London Junior Leagues pre season 9s tournament for under 16s.

It is the first event of this type that the London Junior League management board have entrusted in the hands of Eastern Rhinos, based in Colchester.

The event was full of high quality rugby league action with the participants all getting an early look at their opponents for the upcoming season. Thanks have to go to the match officials Matt Cannon and Ewan Drummond who managed the games professionally.

The Rhinos, who have recruited well in the U16s group during the off season, acquitted themselves superbly. Many of the players getting their first taste of Rugby League and getting to the final is a great achievement. Coach Nick Baker was extremely happy with the lads and first team men’s captain, Dan Harding also assisting was impressed.

The Rhinos also had the primary section of the club training and many of the players and parents stuck around to support their club mates.

Eastern Rhinos Under 16s have tasted success this year already, other than making the first final of the season, Captain Euan Parke, middle Tom Ramsey and half back Callum Crozier have all made it onto London Broncos scholarship programme – their experience is going to be invaluable throughout the season.

The Under 14s also kicked their season off in their pre season 9s which took part in Hemel Hempstead.

Eastern Rhinos are looking for new players to come and join at any age group.

With the season underway and the first mens pre season trial this weekend the club are actively looking for people to get involved on and off the pitches.
